Sunday 11th December. Club Christmas Lunch at the Rutland Arms

This must have been the best attended walk of the year as a large crowd of Polyramblers met at Putney Bridge tube station for our pre-Christmas lunch walk.  We followed the Thames Path through Bishops’ Park, leaving the river briefly to walk around Fulham football ground.  We continued to Hammersmith Bridge and the Rutland Arms, a nice Taylor Walker pub by the river.    Continue reading Sunday 11th December. Saturday 3rd December; Brookmans Park to Wildhill (Herts) circular

A cold but dry day for this winter walk from the large village of Brookmans Park.  After walking along an avenue lined with nice houses and stopping to say hello to a friendly horse, we crossed the A1000 and followed the edge of the Brookmans Park BBC Transmitting Station.  This transmitting station played a crucial part in the history of broadcasting in Great Britain, as the first purpose-built twin transmitter station in the world capable of broadcasting two radio programmes Continue reading Saturday 3rd December; Brookmans Park to Wildhill (Herts) circular

Saturday 26th November. Northolt to Alperton

We climbed the main peak (one of  four) and enjoyed great views that included Windsor Castle and BT Tower whilst we enjoyed mince pies and stollen provided by Lucy and Peter. Saturday 19th November. Wadhurst to Bewl Water, circular

A slightly disappointing turnout of five was met at Wadhurst by Kim & Siew Kee. The weather forecast was for rain later but we were blessed with some lovely warm sunshine as we set off north along the Sussex border path. The cold weather had brought down a lot of leaves but there were plenty still on the trees to form a golden canopy as we passed along an old sunken way. There were signs of preparing for winter, with fields now empty of crops, and sheep with their winter coats on. Continue reading Saturday 19th November. Wadhurst to Bewl Water, circular
