We are one of the oldest walking clubs in the country, formed in 1885 as a social club of the Regent Street Polytechnic which is now the University of Westminster. Today we are happy to retain our association with the University (although the majority of our current members have no connection with it) and we will be celebrating our 140th anniversary this year. We are an active friendly Club and welcome members of all ages and backgrounds (children under 18 years must be accompanied on walks by a club member).
With a varied programme and a day walk almost every weekend of the year, we also organise several weekends away each year in the UK and continental Europe. Last year our trips included walking part of the Norfolk coastal path, a trip to Northumbria, another to the New Forest and a visit to the Apennine Mountains in Italy.
We are currently planning walking weekends away for 2025 to Canterbury, the Peak District, the Isle of Man, and the next section of the Norfolk coastal path.
All our walks and other activities are based around public transport. Our day walks are mainly around London and the home counties and are typically 7 -10 miles but can range from 5-15 miles depending on the time of year.
