A cold but dry day for this winter walk from the large village of Brookmans Park. After walking along an avenue lined with nice houses and stopping to say hello to a friendly horse, we crossed the A1000 and followed the edge of the Brookmans Park BBC Transmitting Station. This transmitting station played a crucial part in the history of broadcasting in Great Britain, as the first purpose-built twin transmitter station in the world capable of broadcasting two radio programmes Continue reading Saturday 3rd December; Brookmans Park to Wildhill (Herts) circular

Saturday 26th November. Northolt to Alperton
Fifteen polyrambler, a guest and Teddy the poodle joined the walk, starting at Northolt village. Our walk took us to Northolt Church that was closed, the gravestones dating from around 1850 onwards. We climbed the main peak (one of four) and enjoyed great views that included Windsor Castle and BT Tower whilst we enjoyed mince pies and stollen provided by Lucy and Peter. The weather forecast was for rain pretty much all day. Undaunted, we set off south along the Wey navigation, a route we have done many times in the past, but usually in the other direction. Newport (Essex) circular – Sunday 6th November 2016
Despite the dire weather forecast there were still some stalwart and courageous Polyramblers who turned out for this walk. Contrary to what we had been led to expect, we were rewarded with blue skies and bright sunshine although the wind was keen but that just encouraged us to keep up a good pace. Green shoots were bravely peeping up in the ploughed fields and we were treated to wide open skies and spacious views of the surounding rolling farmland.
