Saturday 30 September 2017: Chorleywood (Circular)

13 Polyramblers and Daisy the dog on this lovely 8.5 mile walk on the edge of the Chilterns. The weather was sunny despite the forecast for clouds and rain. We headed through Chorleywood Common and walked through woodland and countryside before crossing the M25.   Before joining the Colne Valley Regional Park, we passed an antique shop selling an elephant and a giraffe.  We crossed over the river Colne, followed the path between large lakes and walked along the Grand Union Canal tow path to Rickmansworth where we had lunch at The Feathers public house. Without Yvonne and Daisy who only did the morning walk , we continued along the river Chess where we met children from Amersham College on a field trip.  Leaving the river Chess, we walked along paddocks and were ignored by a horse we stopped to admire.  We continued alongside the M25 (behind a fence, not on the hard shoulder!) and crossed it over a bridge.  We passed Chorleywood House, walked through Chorleywood Common before reaching the station.
