A lovely walk yesterday following the Ridgeway long distance trail from Wendover to Tring. Another good turn out of 17 walkers on a fine, if chilly, morning. We headed through the village of Wendover and past St Mary’s Church where a Spring fayre was being set up in the graveyard. The walk took us into Wendover Woods which were full of bluebells. We walked through a large field of cattle with theircalves and they couldn’t have been more docile, no doubt used to groups of walkers. We walked through Pavis Wood and then along the escarpment through Tring Park following the recently restored King Charles ride, with expansive views of the town of Tring on the left. Later we passed through the hamlet of Hastoe and after 6 miles we reached the village of Wiggington and the Greyhound pub where our lunches were already on order. A large table had been reserved for us and we had to wait a bit to be fed but it was well worth the wait- large portions of beautifully presented tasty food. Everyone was happy as we left for the final two miles, still following the Ridgeway on to Tring Station. Thanks to John and Caroline.
