40 Polyramblers for this weekend in sunny Devon. After a train journey to Exeter St Davids, we took taxis to our accommodation in Holland Hall at the University of Exeter. We did an orientation walk on the campus and took the bus to central Exeter for a walk to the cathedral and the Quayside area then went back to our lodgings by bus. We had a nice evening meal in Holland Hall dining room and went to bed looking forward to 3 daily walk options. Saturday 30 September 2017: Chorleywood (Circular)
13 Polyramblers and Daisy the dog on this lovely 8.5 mile walk on the edge of the Chilterns. The weather was sunny despite the forecast for clouds and rain. We headed through Chorleywood Common and walked through woodland and countryside before crossing the M25. Saturday 23rd September. Holmwood circular via Leith Hill
Five polyramblers met up at Victoria for the 9.31 train which left on time. An hour later we all alignted at Holmwood station, an unstaffed halt, situated in the village of Beare Green. I had to warn the party that the last train back to Victoria was 18.19, however with the walk being down as less than 7 miles, it should be OK without resorting to contingency. SUNDAY 24th September: Balcombe circular
Eight Polyramblers for a lovely walk in Sussex on a nice Indian summer day. The walk was undulating through fields and woodlands to Nymans, a National Trust property. We did not see the Japanese pavilion mentioned in the walk description – it was perhaps hidden behind the trees.
