SATURDAY 21st OCTOBER: BENTLEY to FARNHAM

Despite dire warnings of pouring rain, weather bombs, storm Brian etc, 9 of us + one small dog screwed up our courage & went on the walk. As it  happened there was very little rain & what there was came mostly at lunch time which hardly mattered. The terrifying gale & flying trees didn’t happen either which was fortunate as the walk was mostly in woodland; there was just the pleasant sound of Continue reading SATURDAY 21st OCTOBER: BENTLEY to FARNHAM

HOVE TO BRIGHTON WALK – 7 OCTOBER

A Day of Contrasts!

Rob, Rosie Anna and Solvig set off for Hove – a bit earlier than planned due to a cancelled train.  I heard later that Barbara got a later train, and did the same walk although sadly we didn’t meet up. Saturday 30 September 2017: Chorleywood (Circular)

13 Polyramblers and Daisy the dog on this lovely 8.5 mile walk on the edge of the Chilterns. The weather was sunny despite the forecast for clouds and rain. Saturday 23rd September. Holmwood circular via Leith Hill

Five polyramblers met up at Victoria for the 9.31 train which left on time.  An hour later we all alignted at Holmwood station, an unstaffed halt, situated in the village of Beare Green. I had to warn the party that the last train back to Victoria was 18.19, however with the walk being down as less than 7 miles, it should be OK without resorting to contingency.  Continue reading Saturday 23rd September. SUNDAY 24th September: Balcombe circular

Eight Polyramblers for a lovely walk in Sussex on a nice Indian summer day.  The walk was undulating through fields and woodlands to Nymans, a National Trust property.  We did not see the Japanese pavilion mentioned in the walk description – it was perhaps hidden behind the trees.  We reached Handcross and stopped for a drink in the Royal Oak Inn Continue reading SUNDAY 24th September: Balcombe circular
