Twenty-six Poly Ramblers assembled at Wimbledon Station having overcome a number of problems with train cancellations. Our walk took us on a zigzag route through Wimbledon and on to Wimbledon Common. We wandered across the common following a fenced path until we reached woodland. We clambered over logs and skirted around some very muddy patches before reaching Warren Farm. Bank Holiday Weekend – Lancaster
Friday 23rd August. 37 Polyramblers descended on Lancaster University for a long weekend of walking and sightseeing. The university complex is extensive so the first test on arrival was finding reception and accommodation, luckily Hilary’s sister Janet was on hand to assist as buses arrived. Janet and Hilary led an orientation walk around the older part of the city centre including Lancaster Castle and the Judges Lodgings and a number of historical pubs before we descended down to St Georges Quay’s walking along the Lancaster end of the river Lune to the Wagon and Horses where we had an excellent meal. It was at this point that Danny pointed out that one of our group had not yet appeared, we later found out that his train had broken down outside Euston! linear walk from hever to tonbridge 2oth july
A small but select group of five walkers started our walk on a warm muggy day from Hever Station. We soon reached Hever Castle which was built in 1453 by the Mayor of London, Jeffrey Boleigne. How things have changed, now we are having modular homes built! We walked through the beautiful Kent countryside through fields and some woodland until we arrived at our second castle of the day, Chiddingstone Castle near Edenbridge, the ancestral home of the Streetfield family. The castle itself dates back from the early 19th century incorporating elements of earlier buildings on the same site.

Sunday 2 June 2019: Wendover/Coombe Hill Circular
Eighteen walkers met at Wendover Station to begin our walk along the ridgeway joining the Icknield way and culminating in lunch at the Go Apes café in the depths of Wendover Woods. Wendover Woods is the habitat of the rare Firecrest the smallest bird in Europe which nest in the Norway Spruce. It is also the highest point in the Chilterns (265 m). We left Wendover High street to walk through a park alongside a stream past a church and on to the Ridgeway National Trail.
