Saturday 2 December 2017: East Finchley to the Woodberry Weltlands Centre

It was a grey but mild and dry morning when we set out from East Finchley tube station. We had a good turnout – there were 18 of us including late arrival Danny. Our gentle stroll started out through two pretty woods, Cherry Tree and Highgate woods and then proceeded along a disused railway line, the Parkland Walk Way, a very popular footpath with local families, dog walkers and joggers. The walkway Continue reading Saturday 2 December 2017: East Finchley to the Woodberry Weltlands Centre

Friday 6 to Monday 9 October 2017: Weekend in Barmouth (Wales)

Friday: After a long but scenic train journey, 18 Polyramblers arrived in Barmouth on a sunny afternoon for our autumn weekend. After settling in our different B&Bs, we did an orientation walk that was more challenging than usual, especially for the Strollers. We walked up to St John’s church then up a steep hill to Dinas Oleu, the first land donated to the National Trust and up again to the Frenchman’ grave. We came down through the little alleyways of Continue reading Friday 6 to Monday 9 October 2017: Weekend in Barmouth (Wales)

Thursday 26 October 2017 – Evening walk in Pimlico

It was drizzling and dark so I thought nobody would turn up for the walk. I should have known better! Nothing stops the Polyramblers! There were 11 of us on the walk. We crossed Vauxhall Bridge without seeing the bronze statues on both sides, passed the Tyburn River outfall, Pimlico Garden with the statue of William Huskinsson MP, who was run down by George Stephenson’s Rocket, and St Continue reading Thursday 26 October 2017 – Evening walk in Pimlico

We had a nice evening meal in Holland Hall dining room and went to bed looking forward to 3 daily walk options. Saturday 30 September 2017: Chorleywood (Circular)

13 Polyramblers and Daisy the dog on this lovely 8.5 mile walk on the edge of the Chilterns. The weather was sunny despite the forecast for clouds and rain. We headed through Chorleywood Common and walked through woodland and countryside before crossing the M25.   Before joining the Colne Valley Regional Park, we passed an antique shop selling an elephant and a giraffe.  We Continue reading Saturday 30 September 2017: Chorleywood (Circular)
